Blogging Cage turned 3 today.
3 awesome years in online journey.
I am seeing my child growing: it's getting matured very quickly. 😉
I remember the day when I was trying to find a good name for my blog and I pinged one of my close friends to hand-over his domain name BlogCage.com to me.
According to him, that domain was a high value domain so he refused to give it to me.
That was the time when BloggingCage clicked in my mind. Because I wanted to show him that I have a domain name better than you. 😉
Luckily he is my business partner now and we always chuckle on this topic.
I have worked on this blog day and night to make it a top blog in India, and I am still pushing it hard to see on the top.
Let's see what we did in these 3 years..
When I started this blog I was nowhere in the crowd. People were passionate about blogging, they were making money online, they were doing webinars and hangout to show how much money they were making, and finally charging a big amount to teach the same.
They were claiming themselves as a money making machines, who could change your life overnight.
Those were the shiny objects, but I couldn't afford those costly coaching programs, so I decided to learn everything at my own.
This was the stage when I tried too many different techniques to make money online.
All I could see was, they were making good money online and I was spending my whole day to dig in those blog to find something which could change my life.
Day and night I started reading blogs after blogs to find that hidden trick to make money online.
But the result was, I was getting overloaded with hell lots of information.
One blogger was saying that he is making money with Google AdSense, other was showing his income proofs from affiliate marketing and few were suggesting site flipping as a good business.
For me everything was a way to make huge money in such a short time, so I tried all of them. I started building blogs for AdSense, I launched some sites for doing affiliate marketing, and I bought few sites for flipping as well.
As I was the only person to manage everything, so soon I found that I was hitting in the dark place.
A place where I could put too many hours to find the right path, where the truth was, I was in the wrong direction.
Soon I figured out my mistakes and started focusing on only one method… which was affiliate marketing.
With time I have grown this blog as a big brand in India and putting efforts to give it an international identity.
What I learnt in these 3 years?
I have learnt many things from the scratch.
By qualification I am a graduate in Electronics and Communication where we don't touch any lines of the code. We simply get some electronics equipments and perform our simulation to get the results.
So the very first task was to learn some advanced things which could help me to grow my blog.
1. I Learnt Coding
As I told I am not from a coding background, so the very first task for me was to learn the basics of coding so that I could play with my themes and wordpress files.
After going through some of the good sites I found that HTML, CSS and PHP were enough to work with WordPress. So I decided to learn those 3 languages only. On W3School I started learning the languages and learnt the basics to edit a WordPress theme.
This theme on Blogging Cage is designed by me which I made with Genesis Child Theme. 🙂
2. I Improved My Writing
In blogging, your writing is everything. This is the medium with the help of which you communicate with your readers.
I was very bad in English and I wasn't even aware about very basic English words. You can judge my knowledge by reading the simple language of this article, I still cannot use those hi-fi English words.
So, I knew that I'll have to learn this language if I want to grow my blog.
In June, 2013 I started my English classes and improved it upto a level.
3. I Learnt The Marketing
Blogging is all about marketing.
Every big blogger you see around is a big marketer.
You consider him as a brand because he has marketed himself like that only. He/she has made an identity in your mind that, YES, I am a big brand and you'll have to listen what I am saying.
I figured out this in 2013. I saw that every big blogger was telling himself as an expert in the industry. They were putting money on the promotion and actively participating in the discussions.
So I bought some books on marketing and did deep study about it.
4. I Became An Avid Book Reader
One of my roommates was a book addict.
He used to read almost daily. And we were making fun of him.
His words were, “You'll know the truth when you'll get this addiction.”
And he was right.
Reading books is an addiction. Once you make this habit, you cannot live without books. You will become greedy to collect the books and see your library growing every single day.
Till now I have read around 70 books on different topics (mostly on motivation and self-help) and my speed to finish the book is increasing day by day.
5. I Learnt The Management
Any business you do in the world needs marketing plan.
If you are poor in management, you are nowhere.
This one skill can only be developed with practice and too many failures.
As I am running too many blogs and building niche sites for affiliate marketing, so managing all of them was near to impossible for me.
With time I have learnt the management tips and became more productive to manage my work with more professionalism.
I did many hangouts in 2013, 2014 where I shared some of my best tips to make money online.
I am putting my best to share maximum knowledge on my blog to make your life better.
1. Got Sponsored Trip For Thailand
In November, 2014 I got sponsored tickets to attend ClickzLive event in Thailand.
This was my first international event so I enjoyed a lot. You can read more about my trip here.
2. Got Featured In Magazine
This year I am putting more efforts in this blog to make it one of the top blogs in India.
I have already outsourced writer for my blogs TechnoBol and Android Rooting; which means less burden to manage other blogs. I have hired one highly qualified writer Chitraparna Sinha who is going to take care next blog posts on this blog.
So I am completely free now. 🙂
Then what the hell I am going to do if I don't have any work now?
Smart question.. huh
I am dedicatedly working on the branding of my blog now.
You might have observed few changes on my blog (if you are an old reader), so I am working on it to give more brand value and ease of access.
I have started paid ads for my Facebook Page and going to look for more paid sources to get the more exposure.
So, be ready to see the next version of BloggingCage very soon. 🙂
