Beginner’s Guide to Handle Guest Bloggers in Perfect way

Sharing is caring!

Guest Blogging is the choice of many bloggers. For a writer or promoter it is the best way to interact with the traffic of other famous blogs and for a blog owner it is the best way to make money as well as to get the quality post. So guest blogging is always a win win condition for both and no one is going in lose.

Great writes always keep finding the guest blogging opportunities to expend their blogging arena and to make relation with the bloggers from all across the world.

But for a multi-author blog this can be a question to think that how to handle guest bloggers so that you can get most out of it and people feel comfortable after writing at your blog. Giving an awesome feel to the writer can feed more quality stuff on your blog and they will always having perception in mind that they are going to get real juice form your blog.

My blog is also a multi-author blog where I have more then 90 bloggers from all across the world who keep sharing their knowledge for my visitors, and the number is still increasing. When I made it open for guest blogging then there were questions which keep running in my mind about how to handle guest bloggers and I kept reading the articles about making a perfect guest blogging blog.

Here are following observations and tips which I found

1. Easy Registration Process

You must have easy registration process so that user will feel very good after registration. Make a page on your blog saying “write for us” and write down all your guideline in that page that what kind of stuff you are looking from them and how many minimum words requirement is there. Always ask them to use their original picture in the Gravatar.

For this you can use plugin called SABRE which will let users to select the password at the time of registration and this plugin will protect your blog from SPAMS also.

Don't be harsh to writers and interact with them very politely.

2. Make them Contributor

Contributors are allowed to submit posts as pending for review, and they can see other posts and stuff inside dashboard, but they don’t have control over it, as they don’t have capability to edit, change or delete anything.

On the other hand contributors can add themselves in Google Plus profile for Google Authorship so that when anyone will search the article they will have their Google Plus profile pic in the SERP. All they need to do is to add your website address in the contributor field of their Google Plus Profile.

3. Use following Plugins

If you want to handle guest bloggers in a very well manner then these are must use plugins for any multi-author blog.

  • Capability ManagerThis Plugin will allow you to set the role of users as Contributor, Author, Subscribes etc and you can give then extra role which you want to give them like if you want that Contributor can upload the files then you can set this in this plugin.
  • Peter's Collaboration E-mails – This plugin will help the writers to get the notification about their post that if it has been published or sent in the draft again. Admin will get the notification when writer will left the post for Pending Review.
  • Peter's Post Notes – If you want writers to add notes while leaving the post for pending review then you can use this plugin which can be used from both the way. That writer can left any comments and admin can write down note that why he is rejecting his/her post.

These are some tips and plugin which I am using on my blog to handle guest bloggers and I am very happy with them. If you are having any suggestion which can help my readers to do this job in more advance manner then don't shy to express your feelings and put your views.

  1. Kulwant @ Great article , i think that you have succeed to give the message with very simple and easy steps .I have seen similar topic in shoutmeloud but with a lots of hardship to understand the article for a newbie even some time experienced too. However thanks for the share .

  2. I call it the easy way because it doesn’t require any technical work from your side, but from the other side it takes more communications work between you and your guest authors. This way is useful when you don’t want to have your guest bloggers register to the blog, or have any access to your dashboard, so basically all what you need to have is a simply way to communicate, for example: a simple contact form, or maybe just include your contact info somewhere so contributors can get in touch with you.

    • Tammy, thanks for expressing your views. You must be aware that Google is launching something called “Author Rank” and I think this will encourage more and more guest blogging to have decent Author Rank.

After hearing this news many webmasters must be thinking to start Guest Blogging on their blog as well as to write more on others also. So my intention behind writing this post is to teach them all that how they can do this job in well manner.

And yes the idea of adding contact form using Gravity Form Plugin is good idea.

  4. Helpful post! I wasn’t aware of some of those plugins, and your points about Google Authorship are well taken. It does look like they are going to rely more heavily on that in the future.

    • Andrew Google is going to bring some very big changes and after that change survival in blogging will be tough for those people who don’t do guest blogging.

  5. Hello Kulwant, do you believe that its better to use auto tools for guest post or not?

    • Never use such tools because Google is making its algorithm more and more complicated to catch such malfunction.

Write quality content from the users perspective. Only this way can make you guest blogging Rockstar.

      All the best.

  6. Guest blogging is profitable for branded blogs! However the main concern is to keep the quality. I feel HBB (HellBoundBloggers) do a very good job in maintaining that!

    • Christopher I also love HBB because whenever Guest blogging comes in mind then this is the very first blog to target. I remember that I also published my first guest post on HBB and got very good exposure.

  7. thanks for sharing these useful points. a really nice and an informative post on guest blogging.

  8. Guest bloggers can boost your blog’s content and traffic. It just comes with excellent management skills to be able to maintain balance in the posts created.

    • Guest Bloggers can really take your blog upto a good level if you are selective in accepting articles. Thanks for stopping by Stacey.

  9. Hi Kulwant,
I could not have found this post at a better time. I have a relatively new blog thebuddingblogger and I have been toying with the idea of opening it up for guest bloggers. My initial fears were that these guest bloggers might overshadow my writing efforts. This post is an eye opener and I will seriously consider opening my blog up.
Perhaps you can get the first opportunity to post as a guest blogger?
    Thanks Kulwant.

  10. Awesome Article!
I didn’t knew about those plugins. Will surely give them a try.
    Thanks for sharing it!

  11. We should comminicate guest bloggers properly by reply E mail whether the articles are gooing to publish, under review or not accepted. Your Plug-In suggestions are good to manage it. Thanks.

  12. Didn’t know of the two plugins you mention above, will have a look right now as I am looking for a communication plugin for one of my blogs. Hopefully they’re both kept up to date and compatible with latest version of WP.

    Thanks for sharing.
