8 Tips To Build An Effective Youtube Channel For Your Business

Sharing is caring!

If there is one platform that every business should be using more effectively, it’s social media, and the two platforms that immediately jump to mind when we say social media are- Facebook and YouTube.

With the third largest population of the world on Facebook and with over 3 billion hours of video-streaming per month, both these platforms have given us enough space to be creative and market ourselves.

I wakes up in the morning, washed my face; looking into the mirror, I thought – today is the day when I will take my business to the next level and kick some serious butt.

So I started searching the best motivational video on YouTube.

The only thing I know is that the search engine I am using is the second most used search engine on the planet, and that site is not only a video site, but is a branding and marketing tool on steroids!

Now human beings are highly visual in nature. Movies, selling way more than any other form of media, are a proof of concept. And then I decided to go and make my first video. TODAY!

Now I have to struggle with some other problems.

  1. I don't have actors.
  2. I don't have shooting material.
  3. I don't have editing software.
  4. I don't even have the requisite technical knowledge!
  5. I don't have a script.

But I was pretty much sure that, ‘I just need to succeed once with YouTube’

—–Many YouTube celebrities were made this way. Jenna Marbles for example, shot to fame with one video which got over 58 million views. And she’s just a one person at her home with a camera! Imagine what a team of a few creative people could do! That one great video is enough to give you a mind-space in your customer’s mind and give you subscribers. That’s all you need.

I started writing the following solutions down to the questions to be more explanatory:

  1. You don't need actors. You could make a great presentation and convert it into a video or alternatively you could just show people how to do stuff that would help them and make them subscribe to me or better – BUY from me!
  2. Well we don't need an off-the-chart camera. A good phone camera could do for the moment. iPhone cameras are really good.
  3. I explored PowToon.com very awesome movie maker which is really-really easy tool to learn and operate. Camtasia is another software which is really handy. I could learn it in half an hour off YouTube itself. See how life comes full circle?
  4. No other technical knowledge is needed except how to operate the few above mentioned tools.
  5. Well, if somebody kept a gun to my head and told me to write continuously for 10 minutes without stopping, would I be able to do it? Well, if I can, then why not do it and repeat until I finish?

You see, life is really easy when you see it in a different light.

Whether your brand already has a YouTube channel that’s in need of a facelift, or if you're interested in developing one from scratch, this article will provide some practical tips and valuable tricks to help you kick-start the process.

8 Tips to Build an Effective YouTube Channel

#1. Your Audience's Need

You know that your product/service is the best and everyone in the world ought to have it, but what people connect with is a whole another story.

There are two basic things that people end up watching- either it is entertainment, or something that gives them value, preferably both. Designing your content around the idea that gives them value and promotes your product is a sure way of getting those crucial shares.

Creating how to videos always a safe and effective way to deliver value to your target audience. howcast.com, is one such company that helps you make how to videos, for more ideas on this type of content.

#2. One-Size Doesn't Fit All

Rather than creating one type of videos, create a menu of videos with a different target audience in mind each time. Branching out to all of your audience and building a video-share web is the key to a maximum engagement level.

But create a different video each time. Don't try to engage every type of audience in one video.

#3. Customers to Evangelists; The Authenticity Clause

Your audience will only connect with you if they trust you and only then can you make them from your customers to evangelists. Authenticity and delivering valued content is the key to make your audience connect with you.

You have your own company’s page and website, but what you truly need is space on other’s Facebook pages and youtube channels.

#4. YONO – You Only Need One

There just needs to be one video to make your brand. As Mark Cuban says in his book, “Don’t be afraid to fail, because you only succeed in your business once.”

That’s it. Similar is the case with youtube videos.

You only need that one video which goes viral (if you are aiming for that kind of a response) and brings to you the essential target audience you want.

#5. Great Content, Yours or Others

You don't need to make all the videos yourself either. You can make a youtube channel which shares content that aligns with what you want to achieve.

#6. It's a Unique Marketing Tool

Business meetings and people/companies usually close the session with ‘follow me/us on twitter or facebook page’.

But how many of them do you hear saying ‘We have a cool youtube channel, watch our videos they're great’. Not only does this show confidence in your product or business, but it also sets you apart.

#7. Regularity is The Key

Luck favours the regular. That should be the new catchphrase. Most of the youtube channels usually fade away with time, because they are never regular.

If you promise our audience that there will be a video every week/month, your regular audience will hold you on to that promise. Remember, if you cannot deliver a youtube video on time, what will it say about your service and time commitments? Those shares will take some time to come, but they will come.

#8. Tags Done Right

Search engines can see that you have a video, but they can't determine the content.

To make sure people are finding your channel you must tag your videos and your channel, properly describe your channel, and pay close attention to video titles. If you allow embedding people will be able to spread your message for you without you having to do anything!

Cross connect your YouTube channel to your other social media accounts and to your website to encourage sharing, and remind people to subscribe to your channel so they won’t miss important updates.

All that I needed now is to find what clicks in my head to make a new video!

Remember the creativity part does play a crucial role, but you don't need to be Christopher Nolan to create a video content. All you need to do is get started and create that first video. Rest will follow. Have fun!!

Conclusion

These were some of the filtered down and crucial points of getting a jumpstart from youtube.

The possibilities are endless. All you need to do is find what clicks. Remember the creativity part does play a crucial role, but you don’t need to be Leonardo Da Vinci to create a great video.

All you need to do is get started and create that first video. Rest will follow. Have fun!! Having a YouTube Channel is good for business, but before that you must too have a Business Website.

  1. YouTube videos are so important and I loved that part where you told good companies don’t have to ‘beg’ for getting subscribed. Confidence is what that sells better.
Having a YouTube channel for your brand is not only good for marketing but also it helps to deliver content in a better way. Doesn’t it?
If you want to write a big list post or how to post.. You can also combine the work with a video. People would have a choice and you would get better audience. Plus you will be able to deliver content in a better way

    • Hi Manpreet

“Having a YouTube channel for your brand is not only good for marketing but also it helps to deliver content in a better way. Doesn’t it?”
      “Yes I Agree!”

In the era of content marketing videos leaves and impact on peoples mind and thus considered as the potential content marketing tool these days.
Branding also plays a role but when things helps people it leave more impact than any thing else, and video is something which can do it in better way.

  2. Hi Danish,

I’m huge on Youtube. Well not popular now but I dig the network 😉

We are not real to our readers. Or, we’re not human right off of the bat. Bloggers are words on a screen. Video makes you human, opposed to words on a screen. What a big disconnect we hop over, to form a connection, by using videos to spread brand awareness.

In truth, we’ll always grow closer to ideal audience members by shooting videos because we prove that a real, living, breathing human is on the other side of the internet.

I know the excuses; folks hate how they sound and look. So did I….over 2,000 videos ago 😉 After deleting many which didn’t resonate with my blog or brand I moved forward, and even though my views aren’t uber high now, my trust factor has risen since shooting videos.

Thanks Danish, smart posts all around!

    Ryan

    • Hey Ryan

Nice short story you shared of your 2000 videos, efforts always gives results. Some times it might seems the efforts you made and the result in return you get are not equal but yes with the time it become more workable.

I truly believe in visual things and video inside the blog text play an awesome role which make the user understand the things better and reply on the blog authority who shared it. Sharing a relevant video is most important factor considered.

Thanks Ryan for sharing your experience.

      Regards
      Danish

  3. Hi Danish,

I’ve been blogging since 2010 but never tried YouTube to share my knowledge to the world. I’ve seen many of us (Bloggers) are making damn good money with this platform and this is attracting me too. As you already an established vBlogger on YouTube, Can you share your views what are the niche that perform best on YouTube. I know it all depends on my Knowledge & Interest to choose a Niche but still getting curious to know your opinion.

    Regards

  4. Hey Alam

It really a complicated question for me to answer, because your question it self has an answer in it 🙂 try to share information which you have expertise in.

Building a video channel which gives you more income is not a good idea. You need to develop a channel which really help people and each video must play problem solving game. There is ton of information on internet these days only the information which solves people problem attracts more audience.

Your question is more on to SEO side, so i will recommend you to get connected to the owner of the Blog (Kulwant Nagi) my good friend he has lot of expertise in SEO

I know i have’t answered your question well, but i have passed the maximum information i could do here.

    Regards
    Danish
