PageRank is one of the highly focused factor by bloggers, but the fact is it’s just another factor! You cannot just concentrate on your blog’s page rank and expect a million sales with a high page rank.

Thing of a past!
Long back, pagerank did have some value. Pagerank could easily determine the value of a page and a web site. But today, pagerank can be easily manipulated. All you need is few backlinks from any high pagerank sites and you get a good pagerank. Due to several spamming software available, all you need is to enter your URL, click a button and you get a good page rank before the next PR update. But does this help? No! It doesn’t. This trick may increase PageRank, but on the contrary your positions in search engine will fall badly and you will end up having PR4 or PR5, but very less visitors!
So you need to think wisely. What do you want – a good pagerank or more traffic?

PageRank is not proportional to your traffic.
As I said above PR can easily be manipulated and getting a good PR in days is very much possible. But the above way to build back links to increase the PR, just increases your page rank, but does not increase your traffic unless the back links are of very good quality (rare cases if you use automated tools). Also pagerank cannot determine the traffic of a web site or a blog. I know several scraper blogs having PR3 and PR4, but the truth is they hardly get any traffic, they hardly earn anything. In short such sites just exist!

Oh, c’mon! How can a manipulative factor determine a blog’s quality? PR cannot determine a blog’s or a website’s quality. There are so many ways to get a good page rank in virtually no time and without much work. Even a duplicate content website can have a PR4 in a few weeks (of course a PR update needs to occur). PR does not determine the quality of a website or a blog. It’s just another factor dude!

Now that you know the above..
Now that you know that page rank is just another factor and it does not value at all, how can you forget it? See, forgetting pagerank is very easy. All you need to do is to shift focus to some thing else. There are several interesting things in blogging you need to concentrate which will also give you profits i.e. money 
A few factors you need to concentrate on rather than PR:
- SERPS
- Conversion Rates
- Building social relations
- Writing A-W-E-S-O-M-E content!
So in short PageRank is just another factor and does not deserve your time (at least not now). Take care!

Well, I think Pagerank has nothing to do with traffic. As I see some blogs get huge amount of traffic though they do not have any PR. Every blog has started from PR0 and It’s true that it’s just an another factor.

Although am satisified with your point that PR is just another factor and traffic is much more important but many companies consider a blog’s page rank while giving out sponsored articles (source of income for bloggers). So I think although page rank is not that much useful but it is neither useless and one should consider it equally while blogging.

Kashish I agree with your point that most advertising companies check PR of any website only. And further PR gives the satisfaction to the blog owner that his effort are getting paid because it depict the quality of any blog.
