SEO have become one of the prime concern to continue Blogging. Google being the biggest search engine is doing various Algorithm Changes to rank high quality websites.
For ranking well in SERP you need to learn Keyword Research and so that you can improve your PageRank and you can get traffic on your blog.

Image Optimization is one of the method used to rank well in Google Image search. People love to see images and if they are finding relevant and interesting images then there is more tendency that they would love to visit your blog to see the content also.
An Image is worth thousand words, so you must always be very selective while choosing images for your posts.
Here are some of the best places to actually find images:
- Flickr – Best service for finding free images. They have a really useful creative commons search as well. Skellie has an excellent article on how to find Flickr images.
- stock.xchng – You can get thousands of royalty-free stock images.
- iStockPhoto – Large selection of stock photos that you can buy.
Image Optimization Tips
Here are some tips which you must consider if you are looking to learn tactics.
1. Keyword in the Image
This is the very first step which you should do before uploading the picture in your post. When you download pictures from internet they have names like 65033_10151322391984432_338266975_n.jpg which is not a search engine friendly name. So the very first task is to give it a name. Like in this post I have given name image-optimization.jpg which is looking very familiar and easily readable.
If you will follow this step then Google will know that what your images are representing.
We search on internet with Query as “Image Optimization” only, not like “65033_10151322391984432_338266975_n“.
So don’t be lazy to upload the images as it is you downloaded from the internet.
2. Alt Tag
When you upload images in your WordPress post then you can see the option in image setting.
Alt tag should be same as the name of your picture because it will strong the SEO of image. So when you upload pictures, don’t forget to add the Alt tag in image.
3. Description
Like you add description in your posts, you must add the description in the pics also. By doing this you will make your image more search engine and human friendly.
When anyone will search your image then they will see very clear description of the pic.
Add your main keyword in the Image.
4. Use Related Images
I have seen many newbie blogger using irrelevant images in the article.
A perfect image can make your post go viral very soon. So do a proper research before uploading any picture in your article.
5. Give Credit
if you are downloading the picture from Flicker or any other image sharing website then you must give credit to the photographer or image creator. By doing this we will respect the photographer/creator and we will be in safe hands after giving them credits.
I am saying safe hands because some images are copyright and you can be in trouble while using them in your post without permission. So always try to find free images on the internet.
6. Image Size
DO NOT let your browser resize a large image to look smaller.
When you have a large image, and input height and width tags on that image to make the image smaller, people load the large image first, and then the browser resizes it.
To solve it, always use an image editing program like photoshop or any online editor to make your image a desired size, and upload that.
These are the tips I am using on my blog for Image optimization and getting very much traffic from images only.

There are many sites which are getting traffic because of good images. Because they pay too much attention for the pictures.
Kulwant Nagi recently posted..The Top Habits of Good Bloggers
Yes definitely. I get traffic through pictures as well. Even ranked first on a picture of a wordpress-plugin
But I do find it hard to find related images to non-technical or descriptive posts in which you write about a service, website or person where you have an image in any case and don’t need to search for one.
