You must be aware that few days back Microsoft launched its new service called Outlook. Till the date we were using hotmail for our mail handling and Microsoft’s software outlook which comes in window as pre-installed. This new service amazed all of the professionals and home users as new outlook is having some advanced features.
If you are using Google Apps for handling your custom domain mails (Like admin@kulwantnagi.com) then here is good news for you because you can now configure outlook with custom domain.
A very surprising news is that this particular webmail service has already surpassed the 10 million user mark, in just a couple of weeks of action. which is a huge success for newly launched service by Microsoft.

Guide : Configure Outlook with Custom Domain
Use the following steps very carefully to configure your outlook mail.
#Step 1 : The very first step is to open https://domains.live.com/. It will ask you for login and you can use any of your Microsoft ID for the login like Hotmail, Outlook etc. After login it will ask you to Add Domain, so you can add your domain very easily.
#Step 2 : Once you will add your custom domain then on next screen you will see some settings which you will have to do after login into your domain DNS Setting. you will have to do following setting.
- Mail setup (required)
- DNS record type: MX
- Host: bloggingcage.com
- MX server: TOKEN.pamx1.hotmail.com
- TTL: 3600 or 1 hour
- Priority: 10 (or High priority)
NOTE : You will get a unique TOKEN when you will do this step. and at this step you will get all the required settings which you will have to do in your domain DNS.
#Step 3 : They will check your domain DNS which usually take 30min – 2 hour to reflect so you will have to wait till the DNS will be updated. Now there is option called Member Accounts where you can add your own email address like admin@kulwantnagi.com, info@kulwantnagi.com, contact@kulwantnagi.com or any other. And for every address you will add they will ask for the settings like First Name, Last Name, Password etc so you will be able to access all these accounts separately.
#Step 4 : If you want that you should open your mail login page with ease then you can set CNAME like mail. So you will be able to open your mail only by typing mail.yourdomain.com in the address bar. Click on left side Custom Address and add the address you want as login address (mine is mail.kulwantnagi.com).
For this you can login to your domain DNS setting and add CNAME as mail and CNAME record should be set as “go.domains.live.com.” (no quotes but period at the end).
Unlike Google Apps which allows you to create a maximum 10 users in the free edition, the limit is 500 users in the case of Outlook / Hotmail. Also, Microsoft hasn’t mentioned any storage limitations for your Outlook mailbox as of now.
Follow the steps carefully and you will be able to Configure Outlook with Custom Domain.

Is there any way I can prevent the outlook messages from being stored on the server? I just want’em to store on my system, not on the server.

you can pop them..
I remember there’s an option to turn off this option, but I have forgot the location of that. It’s not under mail-settings.

Go to Option > Mail Option > POP and Forwarding > Write your mail where you want to fwd.
I’m not asking about mail-forwarding. Let me make you the situation clear.
E-mail messages are processed in one or more of the following ways.
1. Messages remain on the server. Outlook connects to the server, and you can read or delete your messages.
2. Messages are downloaded to a local data file called a Personal Folders file (.pst). Outlook connects to the local .pst file so that you can read and delete your messages.
3. Copies of messages are downloaded and synchronized with messages on the e-mail server.
I’m using the second method. I’ve got the solution myself btw.

After Google apps for business has got paid, its is really required. I think its time to move on outlook because Google apps was offering only 10 users and outlook is offering 500 users per account which is the best part of outlook.

I am doing this for my one website, I added the MX server: **.pamx1.hotmail.com but by default there are 2 entries in the DNS zone, should I delete it?

Okay thanks for the reply, Mine crossed the 6 hours but still in outlook it showing me “Pending DNS configuration” So I was little worried about the default entries in the DNS section.
