Google Keyword Research should be our first step before writing any article. Because a Perfect keyword with very low Global Monthly Searches is very easy to rank on Google.

If you are devoting your time to write a long 500+ words Article and not thinking about how to put your main keyword in the Article then it would be very tough for you to see the Article on First Page of Google and all your Hard-Work will go in waste.

Step 1: Go to Google Keyword Research Tool and search for your targeted keyword and see how much is the competition and how much are the Google Monthly Searches.

The Low is the Competition and Google Monthly Searches means there is more chance to Come on First page with your selected keyword
.

Spend at-least 20-30 minutes for Google Keyword Research and study all other related keywords in well manner. here is one of the screenshot for the keyword “Blogging IDEA“.

What do they mean by Match Type ?

This is one important column, that you should be taking care of. There are three options for search type:

  • Broad Match
  • Exact Match
  • Phrase Match

Broad Match

Broad Match is used for searching long-tail keywords. For Bloggers, broad match is useful but that again depends upon your blog type and target.

Exact Match

This is used for if you are targeting a keyword with the exact searches, exact match can help you to aim the keyword very sharply.

Phrase Match

If you want some phrase search for your article then you can select this option and that will be like “Blogging idea for Niche” which is a phrase so easy to rank.

So Finally I would like to say that Google Keyword Research should always be your first step before writing any article because this can work as miracle for your article and you will be having very good feeling when your article will rank on First page of Google from million searches.

    Hi Kulwant,
So many don’t realise the importance of keyword reasearch and learning how to define their customer. Your post explains so well, the process of getting the most value of the content they need on their website to engage in targeted traffic! You’ve done a great job breaking this down contextually and visually, and even gone as far as defining what Broad Match, Exact Match, and Phrase Match means in the Google Adword Keyword Tool. Best of luck to you!
    Thanks, Mark

  5. I agree, content is King, but it’s a very weak king without some highly targeted keywords to back it up. With the right keywords, it’s powerful towards building authority with the search engines, especially if the article itself is good link bait.

  6. Totally Agree with you Kulwant,
To get rankings first we need to target Broad match keywords

  7. I slightly disagree. Google Adwords Tool is mainly for Advertisers. That competition means competition among advertisers for the keyword and not competition of websites using the phrase. Ofcourse keyword researching is an hefty task with different manipulated information all over the net. But I guess i’m right in this scenario. I welcome your reply :)

  8. I have some questions:1) I keep rindeag to chose keywords with high search volume and low competition. Why??? that competition is not how many pages are out there taking about the same thing, but advertizers that come there for that word. Wouldn’t it be better to point out one with high advertizer competition? I don’t get it.2) Do I have to make the title of my condition Work from home California or can I make it something more logical like work from home in California

  9. Oh, my, simple and straight, Kulwant. I have been struggling with keyword research. That is why I could not target any. I will follow these steps before writing a post. Thank you.
